The pawn, bishop, horse and rook,
King, queen and the rest of the troop.
Standing in order,
Ready to fight.
If they have to kill,
Will do so with all their might.
Look, the war has begun,
Bishop and horse fighting in the sun.
Help! Help! Cries the rook,
I've been cornered by the rival troop.
The king's been checkmated for sure,
After many sacrifices, victory will be ours.
Hurrah! Hurrah! Shout the whites,
Blacks have lost in the face of our sheer might.
All I wish to tell you my friend,
Is that chess is a game of intelligence.
Where many live and die for their king,
After sacrificing their kith and kin.
